These Zoom meetings are designed for those in the gender diverse community who have questions or need guidance with navigating their gender identities and prefer to talk it out in a private setting. These 1-hour sessions allow for personalized solutions and one-on-one support and coaching.
These sessions are also available to family, parents, spouses, children, and friends of those in the gender diverse community who need insight and/or guidance with learning how to be a better supporter and ally. These sessions are popular with parents who are trying to cope and adjust and need to know how to support their child who has come out as transgender.
Sessions are $30 per hour and can be scheduled as needed. Please note that these sessions are not professional counseling sessions and you will not be meeting with a licensed counselor or therapist. These peer support sessions are one-on-one with Tricia D. Carlisle, Gender Expansive Community Support Advisor. The Carlisle Initiative facilitates the scheduling of these meetings but is not connected to the actual service. For questions, please text or call Tricia at (720) 477-1390.
The Carlisle Initiative is proud to offer two peer support groups; one group for those who are legal, consenting adults (18+) and one group for minors (under 18) and their parents. These support groups serve a host of purposes, such as:
The Carlisle Initiative has created a BIPOC Support Group as a safe space for those in the gender diverse community who are black, indigenous or people of color to gather for support and to discuss topics that are relevant to them.
This group is a Facebook group only for now. However, we are working on creating a Zoom meeting schedule, as well. Once this schedule is ready, we will announce it on our web site and all of our socials.
The Carlisle Initiative's Prime Timers Club was created for gender diverse folk who are 50+ and who would like to connect with others in their age range to discuss topics that are relevant to them. The club meets weekly via Zoom on Thursdays at 10:30am Pacific Standard Time.
There is a companion Facebook Group, as well for those who cannot join the Zoom meetings due to scheduling or accessibility conflicts.
The Carlisle Initiative is working with a network of certified and/or licensed counselors and mental health specialists to provide free or reduced-cost services to the gender diverse community. If you believe that you or someone you know within the gender diverse community may be in need of specialized counseling, please connect with us via the form below and let us know. We will then do our best to match you up with a specialist who is best suited to offer the necessary support and submit a referral request to them on your behalf. Please allow up to 2-3 days for a reply.
IF YOU OR SOMEONE YOU KNOW IS IN CRISIS AND NEEDS IMMEDIATE OR EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE, PLEASE CALL 911 OR REACH OUT TO THE TRANS LIFELINE AT (877) 565-8860.
TRANSETCETERA IS NOW "THE CARLISLE INITIATIVE!"
1. We are currently in the process of rebranding our organization's web site and socials. In the interim, you may still see references to TransEtcetera, including email addresses and other contact options until the rebranding is complete.
2. The Carlisle Initiative is moving away from the widely-known LGBTQIA+ acronym in favor of the shorter and more inclusive GSE acronym, which stands for Gender & Sexually Expansive. Now, when you see this in our spaces, you will know what it means.
