Our primary objective is to help bring the transgender community, as well as our supporters together to spread awareness of real trans issues. By educating and teaming up with those who are willing to learn, we can continue to build and strengthen a mutual support system that will bring us closer to normalizing the trans community. Our hope is that we will one day be viewed simply as "people" without the need for labels and without having to fight a skewed system for access to basic human and civil rights.
It is our desire to build a more cohesive trans community by linking those who want or need education and/or support to the most relevant resources as to help them thrive and enhance their overall well-being while navigating their lives. And we do this while providing affirmations and positive reinforcement to remind them that, while they are one of many, they are not alone.
One of the most compassionate ways we can show support for our community is to help as much as we can wherever it is needed. Sometimes, this means reaching into our pockets to go just a little further in giving someone a hand up.This is why fund raising and donations are so important. Donations also assist with creating educational opportunities such as scholarship funds and tuition assistance programs.
TransEtcetera hosts weekly peer support groups in an effort to connect people in the gender diverse community with other members of their chosen family in a safe space where they can share what is on their minds. We also host a Zoom Support Series where we collaborate with special guests to discuss specific topics that are relevant and of interest to our community.
We host a club called Prime Timers for gender diverse folk who are 50+ where elders can connect with people closer to their own age to discuss issues and topics that are relevant to them.
The Carlisle Initiative is taking steps to go non-profit in the spring/summer of 2022. By doing this, we hope to offer even more necessary resources such as educational scholarships, surgical funding assistance, and much more.
Are you passionate about what we're doing? Let us know! We are always looking for sponsors and volunteers to help us make our vision a reality. We'll help you find a way to contribute that best suits you. We're excited to have you join the team!
TRANSETCETERA IS NOW "THE CARLISLE INITIATIVE!"
1. We are currently in the process of rebranding our organization's web site and socials. In the interim, you may still see references to TransEtcetera, including email addresses and other contact options until the rebranding is complete.
2. The Carlisle Initiative is moving away from the widely-known LGBTQIA+ acronym in favor of the shorter and more inclusive GSE acronym, which stands for Gender & Sexually Expansive. Now, when you see this in our spaces, you will know what it means.
